JoAnn Post serves as pastor of Lutheran Church of the Ascension on Chicago's North Shore. In over 30 years of ordained ministry, she has served from Anchorage to Atlanta, in congregations and campus ministry, on large staffs and as a solo pastor, always with great joy and purpose. Post is the author of two books, Steward of Stories: Reflecting on Tensions in Daily Discipleship and Songs In My Head: A Cancer Spiritual.
JoAnn's greatest joy is her family. She grew up on an Iowa farm, one of eight children. She and her husband, James will celebrate 35 years of marriage this fall. Their daughters, Clara and Madelene, and son-in-law, Joseph, are hardworking and kind people, who use their many gifts for good.
Of many pivotal events in her life, JoAnn most recently marked the fifth anniversary of a diagnosis of a rare cancer which few survive. That she is alive and well is nothing short of a miracle. It is out of gratitude for that and many other unexpected and undeserved gifts from God that enliven her ministry and all of her life.
